しらす丼

The rainy season is here in Japan. Once this muggy season finishes, hot summer comes.
Do you feel lethargic on cloudy and rainy days?  High humidity could affect your body and cause symptoms such as fatigue, fluid retention, indigestion, nausea, and loss of appetite.  So what foods are good for combatting dampness?

Here are some hints to relieve dampness symptoms.
1. Eliminate dampness

2. Replenish Qi

3. Improve spleen function

Also, lots of desserts and cold drinks interfere with your stomach functions.

This dried whitebait rice bowl is perfect for this time of the year.
All you need to do is make rice, put dried whitebait and sprinkle chopped perilla leaves on top of the rice.
Japanese dried whitebait is normally salted so I don't add any sauce but you can add a little bit of soy sauce.

Benefits

Whitebait nourishes your spleen and eliminates dampness.
Rice is known as a stomach Qi-replenishing food and it harmonizes stomach functions.
Perilla leave promotes Qi flow.

Stay healthy and enjoy the summer season!
