About
Thank you for visiting my website!
I am Hiromi, born and raised in Hokkaido, located in the northern part of Japan.
I am a certified Yakuzen Coordinator (薬膳コーディネーター), a private qualification in Japan that recognizes expertise in applying the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to food and everyday cooking. This qualification is accredited by the Honzo Yakuzen Institute (本草薬膳学院), a recognized educational institution acknowledged by the China Medicinal Diet Therapy Association (中国薬膳研究会).
What is Yakuzen?
Yakuzen is a Japanese style of healthy—and of course, happy—cooking based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It aims to help prevent disease, maintain good health, and improve both physical and mental well-being. Some people call it Japanese medicinal cooking, but I prefer to describe it this way.
After experiencing various health issues, I’ve come to truly realize just how much the food I choose to eat impacts my body.
In addition, as I studied Yakuzen, I realized that the meals traditionally eaten in Japanese households are thoughtful and quite logical.
On this website, I am sharing with you how vegetables, herbs, meat, fish, and other foods can affect our bodies according to the Yakuzen philosophy.
You will also find Japanese home-cooking dishes you can cook with ingredients available at local supermarkets.
I would be very grateful if this website could help brighten your day.
There are billions of food products out there and it's all up to you to choose what to eat.
Let’s embrace healthy eating and live a joyful life!
