Spring onion helps you relieve early signs of common cold
Spring onion
In Japan, spring onions (naga-negi) have long been known as a traditional remedy for colds. Their strong aroma has also been believed to ward off evil spirits, making them a common offering in religious ceremonies and festivals.
There are many Japanese dishes that use negi, such as miso soup, stir-fries, and hot pots. In Yakuzen, spring onion is valued for its warming properties and its ability to promote sweating, which helps dispel cold from the body. A particularly effective remedy for the early stages of a cold is negi miso—a mixture of finely chopped naga-negi and miso dissolved in hot water.
Additionally, the sulfur compounds in negi, which give it its pungent flavor, are known to boost immunity and help prevent arteriosclerosis.
