
Edamame Rice – Support Digestion and Balance Body Fluids
From a Yakuzen perspective, edamame helps replenish Qi and promotes healthy blood circulation. It also supports water metabolism, which can help reduce fluid retention.
Rice, another key ingredient, is known to boost Qi and is especially helpful for recovering from fatigue caused by spleen Qi deficiency.
To make this simple and nourishing Japanese home dish, all you need are edamame, rice, salt, dried kombu seaweed, and a splash of sake. It’s easy to prepare and full of gentle, healing flavors.
Ingredients
2 cups Japanese rice (Uruchi mai)
1 tbsp Sake
1 tsp Salt
200g Frozen/fresh Shelled edamame beans
10cmx10cm Dried Kombu Seaweed
Methods
Step 1 - Wash the rice several times, then put the water (slightly less amount of water than normal rice cooking).
Step 2 - Add the dried Kombu seaweed and let it sit for 30 minutes.
Step 3 - Remove the kombu seaweed.
Step 4 - Add the sake and salt and mix.
Step 5 - Peel the edamame beans and put them on top of the rice, then cook.
Step 6 - Once the rice is cooked, gently mix.
